Massage is as old as human history. Ancient Chinese, Indian, Egyptian, and Greek manuscripts mention that massage was used to prevent and cure diseases. Hippocrates, considered the father of medicine, spoke about massage and exercise and stated that all individuals working in the field of health should be familiar with massage techniques.

Massage regained popularity in the mid-1800s in the United States. Later, with the influence of a Swede named Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839), massage also became popular in Europe, and the Swedish massage system spread across the continent. Ling placed great importance on medical gymnastics and massage, classifying movements into effleurage (stroking), pressure, friction, vibration, petrissage (kneading), and percussion (tapping).

Today, with increasing interest in health, massage has become an indispensable part of natural therapies. It is an important element of wellness culture, helping to relieve the stress of work life, supporting modern medicine, enabling the absorption of healing herbal oils into the body, helping athletes maintain their form, providing physical and mental relaxation for tourists spending their holidays in spas, and perhaps most importantly, increasing the body's resistance to illnesses.

It goes beyond the absence of illness or stress, focusing on the presence of positive conditions that allow individuals to thrive. Achieving a state of wellbeing involves a balance in various areas of life, from physical health and mental clarity to emotional stability and meaningful relationships.
